For These Two, This Was A Week To Remember!

You may have been working or maybe you were distracted with important deadlines, but April 27-May 5, 2018, were BIG days. For two special winners, these were eight big days of travel in one of the most beautiful areas of the western hemisphere, Antigua – located in the Caribbean Sea.

For this trip, Craig and his wife of 36 years, Leslie, both from Fenton, Michigan, made their new home aboard a 2017 Bavaria Nautitech 46 Open.

“We were looking forward to some R & R,” said Craig. “We both work full time and this vacation was a much-anticipated break.” And, a break – indeed! The next eight days were full of swimming, relaxing, snorkeling, Jamaican jerk chicken sandwiches, amazing steaks, drinks, and sightseeing like never before. “Everything was amazing,” Craig continued. “The trip, the people we met, the island of Antigua – it was all so amazing. We saw some of the race and even a helicopter rescuing someone who fell overboard.”

Day four of the trip included some excitement of its own as roughly eight foot seas kicked up during their open-ocean sail, but even those rough waters were quickly forgotten once they arrived at Nonsuch Bay, one of the favorite spots of the trip. Including spectacular views of the island, Nonsuch Bay offered protected, crystal-clear waters perfect for kite surfers and snorkeling, too.“Seeing different beaches every day was probably my favorite part,” said Craig upon return. “There are 365 beaches in Antigua and, to think, we only saw a fraction! It was really beautiful.”

Day five brought them to Mamora Bay and the St. James Resort, which offered the use of a couple of water toys and a playful, spontaneous race of their own between Team Craig &Leslie versus the crew ensued. The final few days of the adventure included shopping, multiple beaches, a trip to Carlisle Bay, and a short stint at the Carlisle Bay Resort where a freshwater pool and delicious meals awaited.

“I’m so glad we got to go. I’d go again in a heartbeat,” concluded Craig, passion in his voice.
